The said courtesy call took place at the office of the Consul General on Wednesday, 3.00 pm, and lasted for about 1 hour.
Mr. Mao Jianzhong, Director of FAO Diqing informed that the main focus of the courtesy call is not only to introduce Diqing Prefecture but also to know personally the Consul General of Malaysia for further cooperation.
It was noted that Diqing Prefecture is known as one of the famous tourist destinations in Yunnan. According to the Director, they are also receiving a substantial number of Malaysian tourists. To further prosper the tourism industry, the Shangri-La airport located in Diqing is currently in the process to be upgraded as an international airport.
The Diqing Prefecture is keen to collaborate with Malaysia in the area of tourism and a people-to-people relation since Malaysia is also known as one of the famous tourist destinations in the SEA region.
