On 10 January 2025, direct flight route from Dali Fengyi Airport (Yunnan Prefecture, China) to Kuala Lumpur was officially opened. The launching ceremony was attended by Party Secretary of Dali Municipal Government, Governor of Dali, Vice Governor of Dali as well as high ranking officials from the Yunnan Custom Department and Immigration Department. CG Kunming was also invited to attend the ceremony.
The inaugural flight was carrying 119 passengers via Lucky Air, 8L843 departed at 1.00 p.m. The flight arrived at KLIA 2 and returned to Dali carrying passengers from Malaysia. For this route, Lucky Air operated Boeing 737-700 with a maximum capacity of 132 passengers.
The flight will be operated twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays. With the opening of this route, passengers from/ to Dali could choose to have the option to fly direct instead of having to go to Kunming (Dali-Kunming via speed
train takes about 2 hours 30 minutes).
