Majlis Ramah Mesra Bersama Rakyat Malaysia di Chongqing, 24 October 2020
The said occasion was held at the Intercontinental Hotel with more than 50 participants attended. They are all either Malaysian who residing or working in Chongqing, including students studying at the local universities.
The gathering was the first-ever session that was attended by the Consul General of Malaysia to Kunming and it was agreed that a similar occasion be held regularly at least twice a year.
During the remarks of the Consul General, the idea of the establishment of the Malaysian-Chongqing Society or Association was informed and for coordination, Mr. Andrew (CEO of Damawai) has been appointed as the interim-caretaker particularly with the establishment requires such administrative matters to be prepared including official registration to the local authority as advised by the FAO Chongqing.
At the gathering, Malaysians were also advised to use Malaysian-Chongqing group wee-chat as a platform to connect including the sharing of relevant and important information for the benefit of all. All Malaysians were also advised to register through the e-Consular system or by letter/fax/email to the relevant Malaysian Missions for record and further coordination whenever needed.
Most Malaysian attended the gathering expressed their appreciation for the get-together and shared that the opportunity not only for networking between each other but more relevant is to engage with the relevant Malaysian representative's office abroad for information references.
They also indicated their support and willingness to cooperate with the Consulate for any relevant initiatives or activities that aim to promote cooperation between Malaysia and the local governments particularly in relation to economic, tourism, education as well as people-to-people contact.
