On 16 January 2026, Malawakil Kunming in cooperation with Wanda Vista Hotel Kunming, launched the Malaysia Food Festival. The event was attended by officials from Malawakil Kunming, Malaysians residing in Kunming as well as media and influencers in Kunming.
The event commenced with the photo session of the attendees followed by the welcoming dance performed by dancers. The Malaysia Food Festival was served in buffet style, incorporating some of Malaysia’s well-loved dishes such as Nasi Lemak, Nasi Ayam, Sate, various styles of nyonya-kuih, and the tarik. The Malaysian cuisines were also served alongside local dishes as part of the buffet set up.
The Malaysian cuisines were all prepared by Chef Davin Kong, a Malaysian chef recently hired by the hotel. The Malaysia Food Festival at the hotel will run for 40 days every night as part of the permanent feature of the hotel’s dinner buffet.
