On 27 September 2025, Malawakil Kunming participated at the 4th International Geographical Indications Products Expo. The expo was held in Luzhou, Sichuan Province and organized by the People’s Government of Luzhou Municipality under the theme “Strengthening Geographical Indication Empowerment; Benefiting from a Better Life”.
The aim of the expo was to facilitate international geographical indication product trade, technology exchange, information interaction, cultural integration, and investment promotion. The expo commenced with the opening ceremony. The Deputy Secretary and Mayor of Luzhou delivered the opening remarks, followed by the Member of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Province.
Following the opening ceremony, the attendees were given a tour of the exhibition at the expo hall. The exhibition consisted of many geographical indications products from multiple provinces in China as well as non-GI products.
Malaysian exhibitors were given separate exhibition area, designated as Malaysian Pavilion. Small opening ceremony of the Malaysian Pavilion was organized at the exhibition hall. The opening ceremony of the Malaysian Pavilion commenced with remarks by Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming (CG Kunming) and followed by the Mayor of Luzhou.
In his remarks, CG Kunming highlighted the excellent bilateral economic relations between Malaysia and China as well as introducing some of the GI products from Malaysia. CG Kunming also expressed hope that the event will be beneficial for Malaysian exhibitors to showcase Malaysian products into the Chinese market as well as exploring other trade and investment opportunities for the mutual benefits of both sides.
