On 31st August 2020, the Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming, Mr. Faizal Shani hosted the Merdeka’s Dinner 2020 at the Telu Samdland Food Restaurant, Dianchi Road, Kunming.
More than 30 invitees, mostly Malaysian attended the said gathering that lasted about nearly two hours. At the reception, they sang the National anthem “Negaraku” and followed with the Merdeka’s cake cutting ceremony to mark the 63rd Independence Day of Malaysia.
During the dinner, CG also took the opportunity to put forward the idea for the establishment of the Malayisan Kunming Club or Society to promote more integration between Malaysian in Kunming through such activities related to culture, sport and others.
Prior to the said dinner reception, on 31st August 2020 with the cooperation of the Kunming Diplomatic Golf Circle (KDGC), the Merdeka’s Golf 2020 was successfully held at the Spring City Golf, Kunming. More than 15 golfers participated including diplomats from Laos, Vietnam as well local businessman.
After the round of golf in the afternoon, the dinner reception as well as the prize giving ceremony was held with more than 30 invites including Consul General of Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand as well as the Vice-President of TaeTea Yunnan were present.
The main objective of the said golf - get together and dinner reception not only to commemorate the 63rd Independence Day of Malaysia but also, to serve as an avenue for diplomats in Kunming to integrate more with local communities particularly businessman and entrepreneurs.
