YAB Dato' Sri Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia II (DPM II) undertook an official visit to Chongqing from 19-21 September 2025. The visit was part of the official visit of DPM II to the People’s Republic of China which includes Nanning and Beijing.
YAB DPM II and delegation was received by His Excellency Xu Jian, Vice Mayor of Kunming, Mr. Gong Rui, Deputy Secretary General of Chongqing Municipal Government and Mr. Feng Zimin, Deputy Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office Chongqing (FAO CQ).
YAB DPM II met with His Excellency Hu Henghua, Mayor of Chongqing (Mayor Hu) at Yuzhou Hotel. During the meet, YAB DPM II highlighted the excellent bilateral relations between Malaysia and China. YAB DPM II also touched on the existing bilateral trade and investment relations between Malaysia and Chongqing and expressed hope to expand the cooperation in these areas, including on water, energy, tourism and education.
Mayor Hu highlighted the relations between Malaysia and Chongqing, in particular the existing areas of cooperation between the two sides in trade and investment. Mayor Hu also highlighted of the importance to continue exploring possible areas of cooperation between both sides for the mutual benefit.
