ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE YUNNAN PROVINCE (DOFCOM) & CHINA COUNCIL FOR THE PROMOTION OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE (CCPIT YUNNAN), 18 MARCH 2021
The said meeting took place at the office of the Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming on 18 March 2021. The Director of MIDA Guangzhou and Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Chengdu also took part in the said discussion that lasted nearly 2 hours.
The purpose of the discussion is not only to touch-base between the two sides’ departments and agencies but importantly as part of an initiative to further intensify promotional activities relating to trade, investment, and other economic interests.
Information sharing relating to background and function between Yunnan side and MIDA including MATRDAE was successfully done. All parties have agreed to establish regular communication through formal and informal channels including information-sharing regarding activities, new initiatives relating to trade, investment as well as promotional events such as MIHAS 2021.
From the said discussion, a follow-up will be made concerning the idea to hold the Malaysia-Yunnan Investment Dialogue 2021 including the participation of MATRADE during the Kunming Commodity Expo 2021 together with various Malaysian SMEs, exhibitors as well as retailers.
