At the invitation of the Yunnan Province Law Society and Yunnan Center for International Economic, Trade and Cultural Cooperation, the Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming attended the Seminar on the Arbitration Service to Prevent and Solve Cross Border Logistic Issues on Saturday, 5 March 2022 in Kunming.
The said onsite and online seminar discussed the mechanism including specific SOP in resolving the related disputes in trade/investment through the arbitration process of having or appointing an impartial third party, which can be a single person or a team of people.
According to the Vice President of Yunnan Province Law Society, with the recent opening of the China-Laos Railway network, the trade activity between Yunnan and Laos has indicated such an upwards trend, similarly, with the inquiries or requests for the related trade/businesses settlement between the two sides. Hence, the clear mechanism of settlement through the arbitration process plays such an important part not only for the smooth coordination for trade and investment integration between Yunnan-Laos, but also for the advancement of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
