On 21st March 2017 Chief Minister of Sarawak State, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg made his visit to Kunming. Chief Minister of Sarawak State visit to Kunming for signing ceremony of agreement on establishment of friendship province/state relationship and cooperation document between Yunnan Province and Sarawak State of Malaysia.
According to Chief Minister, the agreements and MoUs were singen, which would see strengthening of bilateral collaboration in port management, tourism promotion, production of solar panel, iron and steel, bio carbon and infrastucture constuction.
