To all Malaysians in China,

UPDATE: DEVELOPMENTS CONCERNING THE CORONAVIRUS IN CHINA

(AS OF 28 JANUARY 2020)

The Embassy of Malaysia and Consulates-General in the People’s Republic of China continue to monitor closely the outbreak of pneumonia cases caused by the novel coronavirus in Wuhan and elsewhere in China.

The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Malaysians in China to keep calm and update themselves on the situation, via the local media as well as the websites of the Ministry of Health of Malaysia (http://www.moh.gov.my/), the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China (http://en.nhc.gov.cn/), and the World Health Organisation (https://www.who.int/).

All Malaysians in China should comply with relevant local health screening regulations, and Malaysians outside of China should avoid non-essential travel to China. All travellers between Malaysia and China must comply with the health screening and immigration requirements of both countries.

Malaysians residing in China should continue to take precautionary measures, including those mentioned in the Embassy’s statement of 24 January 2020.

Consular support will be constrained due to the extension of the Spring Festival, as well as ongoing prevention and control measures taken by local authorities. The Embassy reminds all Malaysians abroad or planning to travel overseas to register themselves via the e-Konsular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my/.  As the Embassy is continuing to identify Malaysians present in the most affected areas, namely Wuhan and nearby cities, It would be appreciated if Malaysians there could contact the Embassy at the number below.

Following the announcement by the Chinese government of the extension of the Spring Festival as a means of containing the outbreak, the Embassy of Malaysia will be closed until 2 February 2020. However, Malaysian nationals in China can continue to contact the Embassy in Beijing or the nearest Malaysian Consulates-General in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Nanning, Xi’an and Hong Kong.
