The main purpose of the visit by the DDG was to discuss about the establishment of a proper Immigration Attache' office in Kunming. Early this year, two Immigration officers, Mr. Azmi Jusoh and Mr. Mad Tajuddin Shaari have been posted to the Consulate-General with their main tasks and responsibilites are to assist with visa applications for Chinese tourists coming to Malaysia.
The current facilties for visa applications will be further improved by the end of April 2009 after an upgraded counter-service as well as a computerised application process to be put in place. With these new facilities, the Consulate-General aims to provide a fast and efficient service to visa applicants from the five Southwest provinces of China, namely Yunnan, Sichuan, Guangxi, Guizhou and Chongqing.
