Visit by the Liangya Cross Border E-Commerce Industry College of Yunnan University of Economics Management

Mr Yao Weihua, Executive Director of Liangya Education Technology Development who is also the Dean of Liangya Cross Border E-Commerce Industry College of Yunnan University of Economics Management (a private university) with his delegation visited the Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming on Wednesday, 6 January 2021 with the agenda to promote the higher education partnership with Malaysia. 

 

Mr Zhang Jiansheng, Chief of Foreign Affairs of Education Technology Development informed that the Yunnan University of Economics Management (a private university) is keen to establish cooperation in the following areas:

 

i.         Cross Border E-Commerce partnership or collaboration with Malaysian universities;

 

ii.        Student mobility with the said university is able to provide scholarship (s) for the qualified foreign student (s); and

 

iii.       Advancement programme (postgraduate - PhD) for selected students/lecturers to foreign universities including Malaysia.

 

At the meeting the Consul General explained that the Malaysian side is not only focusing to attract more Chinese students to further their studies in Malaysia. But more than that is for Malaysian students to gain new knowledge and experience particularly in the strategic areas that Yunnan is known to be best on it. 

 

According to Yao, as one of the top private university in Yunnan, the said University is also known to be amongst the best institutions in China for its Cross Border E-Commerce programme. Hence, they are looking forward to establishing such partnership including promoting an exchange of experts including joint research initiative with the relevant Malaysian universities.
