On 20 October 2011, Ambassador Jojie Samuel paid a courtesy call on Dr. Concepción Campa Huergo, the President and Director General of Finlay Institute of Cuba in Havana.
Finlay Institute is a Cuban pharmaceutical institution dedicated to scientific research and vaccine production. The Institute has established an efficient quality assurance system recognized in several national and international regulatory organization including the World Health Organization (WHO). Currently, the Institute is having an ongoing collaboration and joint production of halal vaccine with Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). This is the first-of-its-kind partnership between the higher education institution of Malaysia and Cuba.
During the call, the Institute conducted a briefing related to the scientific research, development, production and commercialization of vaccines.
