The Embassy of Malaysia in Havana in collaboration with Casa-Museo de Asia of the Office of Havana City’s Historian organised the First Malaysian Cultural Exhibition, being held from 19 March to 6 April 2014 at Casa-Museo de Asia. It was opened on 19th March by H.E. Jojie Samuel M.C. Samuel, Ambassador of Malaysia to Cuba, and Mrs. Teresita Fernández, Director of Casa-Museo de Asia. The invitees who attended the opening ceremony were among others members of the Association of Arts and Culture of Cuba, fashion designers, officials from Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the diplomatic corps as well as fifteen primary school children and their two teachers. During the ceremony, a short presentation of “Tarian Joget Pahang” was held and the guests were also feted to various Malaysian traditional “kuih”. The exhibition aims at showcasing the uniqueness of Malaysia and its people of various races and religions through visual arts and at bringing both the peoples of Malaysia and Cuba closer and for the people of Cuba to appreciate and learn the rich cultural heritage of Malaysia.
