On 26 June 2025, Ambassador Muhammad Radzi represented Malaysia at a parliamentary exchange session between the ASEAN Committee in Havana (ACHC) and the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, held at the Capitolio Nacional.
The session was hosted by H.E. Juan Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly, and brought together ASEAN Heads of Mission alongside Heads of Mission from other Asian countries, including Japan, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Mongolia.
The programme was made possible through the close cooperation of the ACHC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, and served as a platform to foster dialogue and strengthen parliamentary cooperation between ASEAN and Cuba.
In his remarks, President Lazo highlighted Cuba’s longstanding ties with Asia and expressed interest in expanding collaboration with ASEAN countries in areas such as trade, investment, and energy.
Ambassador Radzi underscored the significance of this year as the 5th anniversary of the Republic of Cuba’s accession to the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), the 10th anniversary of the ASEAN Community, and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Cuba. He reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to enhancing ASEAN–Cuba engagement under its ASEAN Chairmanship, with emphasis on inclusivity, sustainability, and practical cooperation in education, biopharmaceuticals, energy, and sports.
The session reflected the shared commitment to strengthening ASEAN–Cuba ties, with Malaysia reaffirming its readiness to advance meaningful cooperation during its ASEAN Chairmanship.
