The Embassy of Malaysia in Havana hosted a Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni Luncheon on 30 June 2025, bringing together MTCP alumni from Cuba, alongside representatives from embassies whose countries were accredited from the Embassy of Malaysia in Havana. Also in attendance were officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (MINREX) and Ministry of Foreign Investment and Trade (MINCEX) which are both MTCP coordinating ministries for Cuba
In his remarks, Ambassador Muhammad Radzi reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to human capital development and highlighted the MTCP’s role in fostering knowledge exchange, capacity-building, and stronger ties among countries of the Global South. He also shared Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to expand MTCP offerings for Small Island Developing States (SIDS), including Cuba.
The event provided a platform to engage with alumni, gather feedback on past training programmes, and explore potential areas for future collaboration, especially in digital transformation, public health, and technical education. It underscored the enduring relevance of the MTCP and Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with Cuba and the wider region.
