ASEAN Cairo Committee (ACC) Meeting With Red Sea Governor, 19 January 2012 in Hurghada
A meeting between the ASEAN Ambassadors and H.E. Major General Mahmoud Assem Gad, the Governor of Red Sea Governorate was held at the Governor’s Office in Hurghada.
Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E Dato’ Dr Mohd Fakhrudin Abdul Mukti as the Chairman of ACC in his speech thanked the Governor for the warm welcome to the delegates of ACC and wishes to further strengthen the bilateral relation between ASEAN countries with Egypt and Red Sea Governorate.
Matters discussed were the economic and development situation in the Red Sea Governorate, the economic plan, potential economic growth and potential investment and cooperation between Red Sea Governorate and ASEAN member states. Areas of interest from the Governorate include the sea water desalination project, electricity production by solar system, recycling of solid waste and transforming solid waste into electricity, Safaga port improvements and tourism. In that relation, The Governor invited the ASEAN member states to explore the future opportunity for cooperation.
