On 21 February 2017, HE Dato' Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, Ambassador of Malaysia to Egypt paid a courtesy call on Grand Imam of Al Azhar Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ahmed Tayyeb at the latter's office in Cairo. The courtesy call was held ahead of HE Ambassador of Malaysia's departure on 1 March 2017, completing his tour of duty in Egypt.
During the courtesy call, HE Ambassador of Malaysia expressed his heartiest gratitude to the Grand Imam of Al Azhar for understanding and relentless support extended throughout his assignment in Egypt, in particular matters related to religious affairs and the Malaysian students in the country.
