The Ambassador of Malaysia joined seven fellow ASEAN Ambassadors in Cairo as part of the continuous engagement programme with The British University in Egypt, attended by members of the academia and students from the Faculty of Languages and Political Science.
During the session, the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) delivered an overview of ASEAN, covering its history, objectives, institutional structures, economic strengths, working methods, partnerships with external countries, as well as current challenges and future opportunities facing the region.
Following the presentation, guests were invited to enjoy a selection of traditional ASEAN dishes representing each ASEAN Member State. The programme contributed towards enhancing awareness and understanding of ASEAN among lecturers, academics and students, while further strengthening people-to-people ties and appreciation of the region’s diversity, cooperation and growing global relevance.
