On 3 December, 2017, the Embassy of Malaysia together with other 52 Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations in Astana participated in the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2017 held at Radisson Hotel, Astana.
It is an annual event organized by the Ambassadors’ Spouses Association (ASA) in Astana, whereby revenues collected from a variety of traditional culinaries, handicraft and souvenirs sold by the participating Embassies/companies are donated for charity purposes. Participating Embassies/companies also contributed to the raffle prizes and tambola sponsorships. Puan Sharifah Fadzlina, President of PERWAKILAN Astana was a member of the organizing committee.
PERWAKILAN Malaysia promoted Malaysia’s popular national cuisines, including nasi lemak, fried mee hoon, curry puff, fish crackers (keropok) as well its special Malaysian milk tea beverage, pulled tea (teh tarik). These authentic and delicious cuisines were a big hit at Malaysia’s booth. Malaysia also promoted its rich heritage by selling a variety of handicraft such as batik shirt, batik clothes, ethnic jewelries, and various other typical Malaysian handicraft.
The Embassy of Malaysia hopes to participate in Charity Bazaar again in the future as it serves as a good platform for PERWAKILAN Malaysia to promote the country while strengthening the relationship between the diplomatic corps and the local Kazakh community.
