On 13 February 2026, the Embassy arranged a meeting between the high level management of Open University Malaysia (OUM) led by Professor Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Izanee Awang, President / Vice Chancellor of OUM and representatives of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting discussed the establishment and operationalisation of the OUM International Centre (OUMIC) in Astana, as well as potential areas of collaboration in open, digital and distance education.
