On 29 August 2025, First Secretary, Ms Wan Shafawati Wan Mustapha attended a hybrid meeting on reinforcing Negative Security Assurances (NSAs) in the context of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones and the global non-proliferation regime at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astana.
Held in conjunction with the International Day against Nuclear Tests, the meeting focused on the prohibition of nuclear testing, nuclear disarmament, and security assurances for nuclear-weapon-free states.
The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Akan Rakhmetullin and brought together representatives of Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone secretariats, international organizations, and ambassadors of states party to these treaties, with observers from the P5 also in attendance.
