PUTRAJAYA: The Foreign Ministry has enhanced its website to accept certain applications from now on.
Applications for certificate of good conduct, certificate of waiver and registration of Malaysians abroad can be done via http://www.kln.gov.my, said the ministry’s Department of Protocol and Consular under-secretary (Consular Division) Datuk
He said his division received some 400 applications for certificate of good conduct (CGC) each day.
“There are two modes of applying for the CGC. First is a self Statutory Declaration (SD) of having no criminal records.
“Second is through a stringent security vetting by the police in ascertaining whether one has been implicated in any criminal activity,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Mohd Zamri said applications with SDs could be expedited and the CGC issued within a day or two. The processing fee is RM20.
“However, people seeking employment, pursuing further studies as well as marriage in France, Singapore, Spain and the United States may have to wait for up to two months before the screening process can be completed,” he said.
The CGC, for both Malaysians as well as foreigners, could be submitted in person or through a letter to the ministry’s office in Putrajaya, Malaysian missions abroad or at the regional offices of the ministry in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and Kuching,
