The Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Chuah Teong Ban received a courtesy call by six newly-elected Mayors from different districts of the Angaraes province, Huancavelica State on 23 November 2018. The meeting was to give exposure to the new mayors on international fronts and understanding the realm of diplomacy.

During the call, the mayors expressed their admiration on Malaysia’s development and success story from an agricultural-based economy 61 years ago from independence, to a self-government that has transformed the economy to a major trading nation through well-planned industrialisation. H.E. Chuah Teong Ban took the opportunity to share the best practices and lessons from Malaysia that could be adapted for implementation at their respective districts.

The mayors appreciated the Embassy’s effort to welcome them even on such short notice and was willing to engage and share a lot of information with them. It was indeed an interactive evening with some culture-sharing sessions through meaningful Quechua song sung by the mayors.

In line with the Embassy’s strategic thrust to advocate Malaysia’s interest, the Embassy will continue its efforts to promote Malaysia through actively engaging the community in Peru, at all levels.
