| On 29 April 2025, Ambassador Ahmad Irham Ikmal Hisham joined a pivotal diplomatic visit to Chancay Port, Peru, a landmark infrastructure project set to transform trade and economic connectivity across South America and beyond. Hosted by the Embassy of China and Cosco Shipping, this event brought together ambassadors, representatives of foreign missions in Lima, and key stakeholders from the Peruvian government and Cosco Shipping. With a total investment of USD 3.6 billion, Chancay Port is a collaboration of historic proportions between Cosco Shipping (60%) and Volcan Compañía Minera (40%), symbolizing the growing integration of Asia and South America through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Strategically located 80 kilometers north of Lima, Chancay Port boasts cutting-edge infrastructure designed for large-scale transshipment and cargo handling. Its deep-water facilities enhance regional connectivity, cementing Peru’s role as a leading economic force in Latin America while fostering seamless global trade flows. |
