TOURISM MALAYSIA ATTACHE’ OFFICIAL VISIT TO DAVAO CITY (9-12 MAY 2018)

On Wednesday, 9th May, 2018, the new Tourism Malaysia’ Attaché in Manila, Mr. Zaidi bin Kassim arrived in Davao City via Cebu Pacific flight to attend  a travel Expo and engagements with local tourism players in Davao City.  

 

            10th May, 2018; Mr. Zaidi accompanied by the Personal Assistant to the Consul General, Ahmad Sharizal Bin Abdull Seliban; attended the inauguration ceremony of Travel and Leisure Expo Davao (TLEX) at 11:15 am in SMX Lanang Premier, SM Lanang. TLEX DVO is an event organized by Worldbex Services International and supported by the Department of Tourism and the Davao Tourism Association (DATA).

 

            On the same day, Mr. Zaidi and PA attended the AirAsia Product Update at 2:30 pm in Seda Abreeza Hotel. The event also attended by the Charge d’Affairs of Malawakil Davao City Mr. Saifulnizam Wahid. During the event, Mr. Zaidi managed to greet and meet with the local tourism operators and the AirAsia Philippines representatives to discuss on the current and the future plan to enhance the number of tourist arrivals visiting Malaysia directly from Davao City via AirAsia direct flight which was started on 21st December, 2017.

 

            On 11th May, 2018; Mr. Zaidi accompanied by the Personal Assistant to the Consul General, Ahmad Sharizal Bin Abdull Seliban paid the courtesy call to the Office of the City Mayor and met with Mr. Raul A. Nadela, Jr., Chief of Staff – Office of the City Mayor at 10:30 am. The meeting were also attended by the prominent Davao Businesswoman, Ms. Marilou Ampuan. Mr. Raul also congratulated the delegation on the successful of the 14th Malaysian General Election and his admiration towards the newly elected Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The City of Davao wishes to continue promoting the 2 way tourism activities/events/efforts to increase the number of tourist from the Philippines to Malaysia and vice versa; with the assistance and support from the Tourism Malaysia office in Manila.  

 

            On the same day, Mr. Zaidi and PA visited the Tinhat Boutique Hotel & Restaurant, a Muslim Friendly Hotel that also housed a Halal certified Restaurant. Delegate met with the President/Owner of the Tinhat Company Inc. Ms. Marinell Mallorca Alangari that shared an interest to join the Tourism Malaysia’s Malaysian My Second Home Program (MM2H). She also mentioned that she wanted to enroll her daughter in one of any Malaysian International School somewhere around Mount Kiara area. Mr Zaidi, PA and Ms Marilou Ampuan also attended a meeting with the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Tourism Ms. Eden Josephine Davidand discussed on several plans and activities to further enhance the relationship between the two Tourism offices. Both parties agreed to work closely and to promote each other’s promotions using social media and local tourism partners and to make use of the AirAsia’s direct flight route from Kuala Lumpur to Davao City and vice versa. The meeting ended at 5:15 pm.

 

The PA invited Mr. Zaidi and Ms. Marilou Ampuan for a casual dinner at his residence in Woodridge Park, Ma-a. Ms. Marinell Mallorca were also presents as Mr. Zaidi continued to deliver the perks of having to choose Malaysia as a place to settle in. Guest were served with traditional Malaysian Sambal Belacan and Malaysian Chicken Curry.

 

On 12th May, 2018; the PA sent Mr. Zaidi to Francisco Bangoy International Airport and departed to Manila at 3:35 pm on Cebu Pacific Flight (5j 594).
