ASEAN FAMILY DAY
DILI, 20 July 2024 - In the run-up to the 57th Anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on 8 August 2024, six (6) resident ASEAN embassies (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) organised the first ASEAN Family Day in Timor-Leste.
The event, which was held at the Timor Lodge Hotel and Residence with participation of over 100 ASEAN nationals, who took part in non-competitive cycling, brisk walking, futsal, badminton, table tennis, novelty relay, and pool volleyball. In addition, family events featuring a treasure hunt, dance, and colouring (for children) were also held. A contingent of Timorese nationals from public and private sectors were also invited to participate in the fun-filled day aimed at fostering greater camaraderie and inclusivity among members of the ASEAN diaspora in Timor-Leste.
Indonesian Ambassador Okto Dorinus Manik delivered remarks on behalf of ASEAN Heads of Mission in Dili.
