His Excellency Dato' Mahinder Singh met with Mr. Jesus Abreu, President of El Universal on 10 May 2016 at the Headquarters of El Universal in Caracas, Venezuela. El Universal is one of the leading daily news agencies in Venezuela. During the meeting, Mr. Abreu conveyed that El Universal would like to establish closer linkages with countries from Asia including Malaysia. Dato’ Mahinder took the opportunity to provide a perspective of Malaysia’s success in economic development including the ongoing Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). He also highlighted on the integration process in ASEAN and its achievements thus far. Mr. Abreu expressed his desire and willingness to assist the Embassy to provide greater coverage on Malaysia’s economic success which could be shared with the people of Venezuela. The meeting was to establish an active engagement with the local media and help share Malaysia’s experiences in economic development.
