STATE VISIT BY H.E. Hugo Chávez Frías, PRESIDENT OF THE H.E. Hugo Chávez Frías, President of the President Chávez was accompanied by eight Venezuelan Cabinet Ministers, namely, H.E. Nicolás Maduro, Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Rafael Ramirez, Minister of Energy and Oil and President of PDVSA, H.E. Dr. Jorge Giordanni, Minister of Planning and Development, H.E. Elías Jaua, Minister of Agriculture and Land, H.E. Dr. Gustavo Márquez, Minister of Estate for Integration and External Trade, H.E. Williams Lara, Minister of Communication and Information, H.E. Yadira Córdova, Minister of Sciences and Technology as well as H.E. Jesús Suárez Chourio, Minister of Presidential Security and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia, H.E. Alcides Rondón. As part of his visit programme, President Chávez made a tour to Golden Hope Palm Oil Refinery in Telok Panglima Garang, Banting and Golden Hope Oil Palm It should be noted trade is a dominant feature of Malaysia-Venezuela bilateral relations. Total bilateral Malaysia-Venezuela trade in 2005 amounted to US$39.62 million (RM150.57 million). This represents an increase of more than 100% from US$19.8 million (RM74.6 million) in 2004. Este fue su segunda Visita de Estado a Malasia que fue organizada por Su Majestad el Yang di-Pertuan Agong (El Rey). Durante su visita, el Presidente Chávez y su comitiva sostuvieron reuniones bilaterales con el Excelentísimo Señor Dato’ Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Primer Ministro de Malasia y la comitiva de Malasia. El Presidente Chávez estuvo acompañando de ocho ministros, a saber, Excmo. Sr. Nicolás Maduro, Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores; Excmo. Sr. Rafael Ramírez, Ministro de Energía y Petróleo y Presidente de PDVSA; Excmo. Sr. Dr. Jorge Giordanni, Ministro de Planificación y Desarrollo; Excmo. Sr. Elías Jaua, Ministro de Agricultura y Tierras; Excmo. Sr. Dr. Gustavo Márquez, Ministro de Estado para la Integración y Comercio Exterior; Excma. Sra. Yadira Córdova, Ministra de Ciencias y Tecnología; así como también Excmo. Sr. Jesús Suárez Chourio, Ministro de la Seguridad Presidencial y Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores para Asia Excmo. Sr. Alcides Rondón. Como parte de su programa de visita, el Presidente Chávez realizó una gira a la refinería de Aceite de Palma Golden Hope Palm en Telok Panglima Garang, Banting y Golden Hope plantación de palma de aceite Golden Hope Oil Palm Plantation, Carey Island. Además, también participó en un foro empresarial organizado por la Embajada de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela en Kuala Lumpur y la Cámara Nacional de Comercio e Industria de Malasia. Cabe señalar que el comercio es una característica dominante de las relaciones bilaterales entre Malasia y Venezuela. El total de comercio bilateral Malasia-Venezuela en el año 2005 ascendió a US$39,62 millones (RM150.57 millones). Esto representa un aumento de más del 100% de los US$19,8 millones (RM74.6 millones) en 2004. La balanza comercial fue de US$10,39 millones (RM39.51 millones) y a favor de Malasia. La visita permitió al Excmo. Sr. Hugo Chávez Frías de hacer un seguimiento y establecer contactos personales, así como estrechar la relación y el entendimiento con Primer Ministro de Malasia y de otros líderes. Además de seguir fortaleciendo las relaciones bilaterales entre los dos países, la visita también presentó una oportunidad para Venezuela de explorar una estrecha cooperación en los sectores petroleros y del gas, así como los del aceite de palma en Malasia.
También durante la visita un número de temas internacionales de interés común se discutieron entre Malasia y Venezuela, en particular, la situación política actual en el Oriente Medio.
