BRIGHTON SEIGE INCIDENT, MELBOURNE, 5 JUNE 2017
Malaysia strongly condemns the shooting and hostage taking situation in Melbourne, Australia on Monday, 5 June 2017 that killed one civilian and injured 3 police officers.
The Australian Police have identified the perpetrator as 29-year old Yacqub Khayre from Roxburgh Park, who had a history of violence. The perpetrator was killed in the incident. The incident is treated as an act of terrorism by the Australian authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that no Malaysian were involved in the incident.
