On 15 May 2026, the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) Alumni Zimbabwe, in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Harare, organised a reception in Harare. The event brought together over 50 MTCP alumni from key government institutions. Mr. Aniff M. Fauzi, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Malaysia, delivered remarks highlighting the instrumental roles of MTCP alumni in strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and Zimbabwe. He also seized the opportunity to present on Malaysia’s digital economy, showcasing potential growth areas in the digitalisation agenda including trade, economy, agriculture and finance by leveraging Malaysia’s digital journey and advancements. During the reception MTCP alumni from the Zimbabwe Investment Development Agency (ZIDA), ZIMTRADE, and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) shared their learning experiences from the programmes they attended in Malaysia, followed by a roundtable discussion. The event was further graced by the presence of Mr. Spencer Dube, Director for Africa and Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, as the Guest of Honour. He hailed the MTCP for playing a critical role in equipping Zimbabwean professionals with the skills necessary to drive national development. He also expressed appreciation to the Government of Malaysia for its continued support towards capacity building for developing nations, in line with the South‑South Cooperation initiative.
