During his transit in Mauritius en route South Africa to attend the Africa National Congress (ANC) Party's Centenary Celebration on 7 January 2012, Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia (YAB PM), Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak was met on arrival by Charge d' Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia based in Zimbabwe, Mohamad Nizan Mohamad. Also on hand to receive PM were Honourable Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) of Mauritius, Dr. Ahmed Rashid Beebeejaun and his wife, His Excellency Foreign Minister (FM) of Mauritius, Dr. Arvind Boolell, Honorary Consul of Malaysia in Mauritius, Mr. Saleem Beebeejaun and Chief of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritius, Mr. Israhyananda Dhalladoo.
Hon. DPM of Mauritius side took the opportunity of one-hour stop over to pay a courtesy call on YAB PM at the State VVIP Lounge of the Airport in the present of FM, CDA and Honorary Consul. Issues discussed were focussed on ways to reinvigorate and enhance bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Mauritius.
