FLAG RAISING CEREMONY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 49TH ASEAN DAY CELEBRATION 8 AUGUST 2016
The date of 8 August 2016 marks the 49th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN. In celebrating this date, a flag raising ceremony will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Heads of Diplomatic Missions, government officials, representatives of the business community, the media as well as students have been invited to attend this ceremony. The ceremony will be officiated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.
The commemoration is aimed at celebrating the achievements and positive developments of ASEAN over the years, as well as to promote greater awareness of ASEAN among the public. ASEAN’s theme this year under the Chairmanship of Lao PDR, “Turning Vision into Reality for a Dynamic ASEAN Community” is timely and appropriate as ASEAN embarks on its new journey as an “ASEAN Community”.
