OFFICIAL VISIT OF HIS IMPERIAL HIGHNESS PRINCE NARUHITO THE CROWN PRINCE OF JAPAN TO MALAYSIA 13 TO 17 APRIL 2017
His Imperial Highness Prince Naruhito, the Crown Prince of Japan will undertake an Official Visit to Malaysia from 13 to 17 April 2017. His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan will be accompanied by an official delegation of the Imperial Household as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan.
This will be His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan’s first visit to Malaysia since His Imperial Highness’ investiture as the Crown Prince of Japan on 23 February 1991. The last visit by the Crown Prince of Japan to Malaysia was by His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akihito (the then Crown Prince) and Her Majesty Empress Michiko (the then Crown Princess) from 19 to 26 February 1970. In October 1991 and June 2006, both His and Her Majesty undertook State Visits to Malaysia.
Bilateral relations between Malaysia and Japan have expanded steadily and substantially since the establishment of diplomatic relations 60 years ago. Among the main thrust of cooperation between the two countries is the Look East Policy. Programmes under this policy have been implemented for more than three decades since 1982. The policy entered the second wave of cooperation in 2013. Through this programme, Malaysia has benefited greatly, particularly in terms of economic and social development.
The visit by His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan would be the highlight of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Malaysia – Japan bilateral relations. This historic visit will contribute towards the enhancement of the close and fraternal relations between the two countries as well as personal relationship between leaders.
During the visit, His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan will have an audience with His Majesty The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XV, Sultan Muhammad V, followed by an Official Dinner hosted by His Majesty The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong XV, both at Istana Negara. His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan is also scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Najib Razak. Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Razak and Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor will host a luncheon for His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan and delegation at Sri Perdana, Putrajaya.
His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan will also deliver a special lecture at the University of Malaya. The Sultan of the State of Perak and the Chancellor of the University of Malaya, Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-lah, will be present during the special lecture.
His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince of Japan is also scheduled to visit PERMATA Pintar and meet with Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor, the patron of the PERMATA Programmes.
Apart from this, other programmes include visits to the National Museum, Smart Tunnel and Japanese School Kuala Lumpur, as well as an audience by Japanese Community in Malaysia and Malaysians Associated with Japan.
