OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (UAE), HIS HIGHNESS SHEIKH ABDULLAH BIN ZAYED AL NAHYAN, TO MALAYSIA FROM 16-17 NOVEMBER 2017
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, undertook an official visit to Malaysia from 16 to 17 November 2017. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE.
During the visit, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj. Aman, at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya where both sides exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern including the situation in the Middle East.
The bilateral meeting was then followed by signing of two memorandum of understandings (MoUs) between the Government of Malaysia and Government of the UAE namely the MoU on establishment of a Joint Committee for Cooperation and MoU on Political Consultation. The signing of the two MoUs underlined the strong commitment of both sides to promote cooperation in various fields with special emphasis on economic and trade relations.
Besides the official programmes, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan also attended the closing session of the UAE Ambassadors’ Economic Forum which was held from 13 to 17 November 2017 at JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Later in the evening, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Minister with Special Functions at their respective offices in Putrajaya.
Given the friendly relations between the two countries, the official visit provided an excellent opportunity for both sides to further strengthen bilateral relations and paved the way to explore other possible areas of cooperation.
