THE 55TH NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION AT THE EMBASSY OF MALAYSIA IN HARARE, ZIMBABWE ON 5 SEPTEMBER 2012

The Malaysian Embassy in Harare hosted a reception on the occasion of the 55th National Day of Malaysia on 5 September 2012.  The reception was held at the compound of the Embassy of Malaysia at 40 Downie Avenue, Avondale, Harare.

 

This year's national day celebration was well attended by over 295 guests comprising Deputy Minister and Members of Parliament, members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various other Ministries, members of the International Organizations, prominent members of local community, members of the MTCP's Alumni as well as Malaysians living in Zimbabwe.

 

The Guest of Honour at the reception was the Honorable Rabson R. Makhula, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

 

A special program organized for this year's reception was the display of the Malaysian exotic fruits supplied by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority of Malaysia (FAMA) during the celebration.  A total of 260 kgs of fruits including Pomelos, Star Fruits, Rose Apple, Seedless Watermelon, Guava, Jackfruits and Pineapples were on displayed.  Other items included fresh cut Malaysian Orchids, FAMA's bottled products and drinks/coffee packets.

 

The Fruits Island was erected to display fruits and other products close to the main stage of the event.  Guests were later invited to sample fruits and other FAMA's products.  Various brochures on fruits and products to promote the Malaysian fruits and other products were also on displayed.  All brochures displayed during the event were taken up by guests.

 

On hand to receive the guests were Mr. Mohamad Nizan Mohamad, Charge d' Affaires a.i. and wife, Mrs. Wan Rocemaliza Wan Chik and Third Secretary, Mr. Nagandran Arumugam.
