This year's reception was well attended by over 200 guests comprising members of the diplomatic corps including Ambassador from United States of America, European Union (EC), China, India Russia, Australia, Austria, Sweden, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Greece, Japan, Kuwait, Palestine, Turkey, Algeria, Malawi, Mozambique, Indonesia and representatives of other embassies. Local guests were Minister, senior government officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and various other Ministries, prominent members of local community, members of the MTCP's Alumni as well as Malaysians living in Zimbabwe.
The Guest of Honour was Hon. Rabson R. Makhula, the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The reception was also attended by Hon. Sekai Holland, Minister of National Healing & Reconcialiation of Zimbabwe and His Worship M.A. Masunda, Mayor of Harare.
Charge d' Affaires Mohamad Nizan Mohamad (CDA) and wife as well other officers greeted the guests on their arrival. This was followed with a brief toasting ceremony to the prosperity and good health of the Head of State of the two countries before guests were invited to savour the served cuisine. Wide array of Malaysian traditional cuisines were served.
This year's reception was lively and exciting as Mission had decorated special Hari Raya's coloured Ketupat light bulbs and 'Bunga Manggar' at the main entrance of the hall including displaying tourism posters on Malaysia all around the reception hall. In addition, a big screen was also set up to showcase documentary films on Malaysia and its traditional music as background music throughout the reception period. On departure, guests were presented with gifts obtained from our Tourism Malaysia Office based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
