WORKING VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY MEVLÜT ÇAVU?O?LU MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY TO MALAYSIA 22-23 NOVEMBER 2016
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu, will undertake a working visit to Malaysia on 22 and 23 November 2016.
His Excellency Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu is expected to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman, on 23 November 2016 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. During the visit, YB Dato’ Sri Anifah Aman will host an official luncheon in honour of His Excellency Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu and members of his delegation.
Malaysia and the Republic of Turkey continue to enjoy close relations in the various key areas including politics, economy, defence and tourism. Total bilateral trade for 2015 was valued at RM5.65 billion with imports of RM1.85 billion and exports of RM 3.90 billion. Since the implementation of Malaysia-Turkey Free Trade Agreement (MTFTA) in 2015, total trade with Turkey increased significantly by 78.1%. The MTFTA aims to achieve the target of USD5 billion in bilateral trade by 2019 set by both countries.
The visit will provide the opportunity for both Ministers to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern. The visit is envisaged to strengthen and enhance further Malaysia-Turkey relations.
