WORKING VISIT OF THE DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIA
TO THE UNITED KINGDOM7 - 11 NOVEMBER 2016
The Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, will be undertaking a working visit to the United Kingdom (UK), from 7 to 11 November 2016. YAB Deputy Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, YABhg. Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs. The purpose of the visit is to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries, as well as to bolster working relations, particularly, with the newly-appointed UK Home Secretary, Amber Rudd.
This visit would afford both sides the opportunity to enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest, namely, security cooperation, mainly on counter-terrorism, Brexit, the Global Movement of Moderates (GMM) and immigration-related matters. During the visit, YAB Deputy Prime Minister is also scheduled to deliver a special lecture at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, entitled, “De-rooting Radicalism and Extremism”.
YAB Deputy Prime Minister will also take the opportunity to hold a dialogue session with UK business leaders as well as meet with the Malaysian community and students in London.
