On Tuesday, 24 November 2020, the Consul General of Malaysia to Kunming, Mr. Faizal Shani delivered a keynote speech at the 2nd Yunnan Summit on the Rule of Law under the theme “Cooperation and Exploration on the Rule of Law”.
The speech by the Consul General focussed on the way forward to establish the close-cooperation between Malaysia and Yunnan in the area of trade and investment by using the Kunming Area of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone as the main platform.
In this connection, three (3) initiatives were presented for further discussion:
Firstly: To cooperate with the Yunnan Government to hold the Malaysia-Yunnan Bilateral Seminar on Investment and Trade @ Doing Business in Malaysia;
Secondly: MIDA and MATRADE, as a Malaysian Agency within the purview of Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) is ready to share such informative materials including establishing a contact-line with the Yunnan @ Kunming FTZ service center to further promote cooperation in investment and trade.
Thirdly: Integration between business chambers or associations from both sides are to be expanded with the support from relevant authorities of both sides.
Apart from the Malaysian Consul General, other VIP that participated and delivered the keynote speech was Mr. Zhang Sujun, Vice President of Law Institute of China; Mr. Chen Lian Yuan, Party Secretary of CPC Kunming and Mr. Zhang Tian Yuan, Secretary of Political and Law Committee of Yunnan.
