Ministry of Science and Technology of China, in cooperation with China Association for Science and Technology and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, organized the 8th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop in at Howard Johnson Lake View Hotel Kunming from 22-28 July 2024.
Themed "Dream of Future Science, Dedication to Better World," the programme was participated by students and accompanying officials from 37 countries, including Malaysia.
Throughout their stay in Kunming, the participants visited the 8th China- South Asia Exposition (CSA), Yunnan University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Kunming Institute of Botany and Yunnan Observatories at the Chinese Academy of Science, Lufeng World Dinosaur Valley in Chuxiong, World Natural Heritage Museum of Chengjiang Fossil Site, and Dounan modern flower Market.
The program included four science-themed camps—"Fossils that Witness the Evolution of Life on Earth from Yunnan," "Plant Fantasy," "Guide the Future Wisely," and "Chasing Sun" and ten activities focusing on science, technology, and cultural exchange, such as Cultural Night, Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience, and Dialogue with Scientists. These activities provided a dynamic setting for young participants to explore scientific subjects, engage in creative projects, and interact with both peers and distinguished scientists. Teachers participated in specialized exchanges to enhance their professional development and promote cross-cultural educational collaborations.
