On 2 July 2025, Ambassador Muhammad Radzi met with H.E. Ian Pedro Carbonell Karell, Deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba and Director of the Directorate of Macroeconomic Policies at the Central Bank of Cuba, at the National Capitol Building in Havana.
The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia–Cuba relations through parliamentary diplomacy and mutual dialogue, especially as both countries mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral engagement and exploring potential areas of cooperation in sectors such as trade, digital economy, biotechnology, and sustainable development.
H.E. Karell underscored Cuba’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy and highlighted the importance of international cooperation in promoting innovation and inclusive growth. Ambassador Radzi conveyed Malaysia’s readiness to contribute through knowledge exchange, technical collaboration, and capacity-building.
The meeting reflected the shared commitment to further deepening Malaysia–Cuba ties through meaningful and forward-looking engagement.
