Reception on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia, 6 September 2012

On the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the National Day of Malaysia, the Embassy of Malaysia in Havana, Cuba held a Reception on 6 September 2012, at “RUMAH MALAYSIA” (Official Residence), to commemorate our 55 years of Independence.

The reception started at 7.30 p.m. with the playing of the National Anthem of Cuba followed by Negaraku. H.E. Ambassador Jojie Samuel then delivered a short remarks. The Guests of Honour for the reception were H.E. Orlando Hernández Guillen, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Republic of Cuba, and H.E. Marcos Rodríguez Costa, Vice Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Cuba. Amongst other invitees who attended were Ambassadors and other members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Cuban Ministries and Agencies, Cuba’s MTCP-Alumni Committee members, media, Malaysians residing in Cuba, Embassy staff and Malaysian students.

Around 300 guests attended the reception. The guests were treated to Malaysian delicacies such as karipap, satay goreng, cucur udang, cucur ikan, tart kelapa and kuih bingka. The guests were also entertained with several Malaysian songs performed by a Malaysian and a Cuban, Malaysian traditional dances performed by Cubans, and Malaysian traditional music by the Frasis string ensemble.
