OFFICIAL VISIT OF
HIS EXCELLENCY SAMDECH HUN SEN
PRIME MINISTER OF THE KINGDOM OF CAMBODIA TO MALAYSIA
3-4 JUNE 2016
His Excellency Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will be undertaking an Official Visit to Malaysia from 3 to 4 June 2016 at the invitation of YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak. His Excellency Samdech Hun Sen will be accompanied by his wife, Madam Samdech Bun Rany Hun Sen, Cabinet Ministers and Senior Officials. Prior to the visit, His Excellency Samdech Hun Sen attended the World Economic Forum on ASEAN held in Kuala Lumpur from 1 to 2 June 2016.
The programme of the visit will include a Welcoming Ceremony, a Restricted Meeting with YAB Prime Minister followed by a Delegation Meeting on 3 June 2016. YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak and YABhg. Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor will also host an Official Dinner in honour of His Excellency Samdech Hun Sen and wife, as well as Ministers and members of the Cambodian delegation. A Malaysia-Cambodia Business Dialogue, hosted by MATRADE, will be held in the afternoon of the same day.
Both leaders are expected to take stock of the progress of the existing bilateral relations and discuss the way forward in strengthening relations and expanding the scope of cooperation for mutual benefit. Both YAB Prime Minister and the Prime Minister of Cambodia are also expected to witness the signing of the “MoU between Malaysia and Cambodia on the International Volunteers Programme of MyCorps in Cambodia”, “MoU between Malaysia and Cambodia on Information and Broadcasting Cooperation” and a Letter of Intent between the two governments on Agricultural Cooperation.
Total trade between the two countries stood at US$385.8 million in 2015. The volume of trade has consistently been in favour of Malaysia with exports to Cambodia recorded at US$234.5 million while imports amounted to US$151.3 million. Malaysia’s main exports to Cambodia are textiles, clothing & footwear, beverages & tobacco, processed food, transport equipment and petroleum products. Malaysia’s main imports from Cambodia are textiles, clothing & footwear, natural rubber, electrical & electronic products, palm oil & palm-based products and machinery.
Cambodia has in recent years emerged as one of the key investment destinations for Malaysian companies. Malaysian investments are diversified, including banking, manufacturing, telecommunication and the energy sector. Investment in the services sector registered incremental growth.
