On 3rd February 2026, First Secretary Dzikri Md Rashid, on behalf of the Head of Mission attended the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) Meeting at Four Seasons Hotel at the First Residence. This marked the first ACC Meeting for the year, and the first under Thailand's Chairmanship, following the handover from Myanmar.
The meeting discussed bilateral activities between ASEAN member states with the Arab Republic of Egypt, developments within ASEAN and the activities planned for the year 2026. Malawakil Cairo offered to host a working luncheon for the ACC group, attended by the Assistant Foreign Minister of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates.
The Embassy of Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting the positive momentum of ACC initiatives and to work closely with fellow ASEAN Missions in Cairo in advancing ASEAN-Egypt relations and promoting common regional interests.
