PRESS RELEASE ON ROAD ACCIDENT INVOLVING MALAYSIANS IN CHIANG MAI PROVINCE, THAILAND

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that officers from the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok are now in Doi Saket district, Chiang Mai province to assist in ongoing efforts to provide consular services to the victims, including those injured and their families as a result of this tragic accident.  The Foreign Ministry will continue to work with the relevant Malaysian Government agencies, Thai authorities, and the travel agency in helping to identify the victims as well as bringing home the remains of the victims and those injured to Malaysia.

 

As stated in the earlier press release, the Ministry wishes to confirm that 13 Malaysians have been reported as deceased. Another nine have been injured, of which four are severely injured, while the injuries to another five are not life threatening.
