The delegation called on the Charge d' Affaires (CDA) at the Embassy on 2 August 2010 for a brief discussion on local situation before attending meetings with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Investment Promotion, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC), Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), Zimtrade and Zimbabwe Investment Authority (ZIA). Apart from exploring opportunities available in Zimbabwe, MATRADE delegation also took the opportunity to hand over invitations to Zimbabwean companies to attend business meetings with the Malaysian exporters in conjunction with the INTRADE Malaysia 2010 in Kuala Lumpur from 9-11 November 2010. The CDA hosted a dinner at his residence in honour of the MATRADE delegation.
The visit by MATRADE was a welcomed event as the Embassy has been pushing hard for the agency to visit and evaluate economic situation in Harare and made recommendations to Kuala Lumpur to initiate and rejuvenate the economic relations between Malaysia and Zimbabwe in light of the prevailing positive economic situation and enormous business potentials available in the country. It was hoped that the meetings held between both sides could be at a first step towards initiating and exploring further bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
